Common use

Ceclor CD is primarily used for the management of various types of bacterial infections and is a part of the second-generation cephalosporin antibiotics. Secondary uses include managing conditions such as otitis media (middle ear infection), lower respiratory tract infections like pneumonia and bronchitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis, skin and skin structure infections, and urinary tract infections.

Dosage and direction

Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Ceclor CD works best if you take it with a meal or within 30 minutes of a meal. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow it whole.

Precautions

Ceclor CD falls under the FDA's pregnancy category B, which means it should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.
Ceclor CD is excreted in human milk. Use with caution in nursing mothers.
Patients with impaired renal function should exercise caution when taking Ceclor CD, as dose adjustment may be necessary.
Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to penicillin due to possible cross-reactivity.

Contraindications

Missed dose

If you forget to take a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose.

Overdose

Overdose of Ceclor CD may result in nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress, and diarrhoea. The severity of the symptoms often reflects the dosage administered. If you observe these symptoms, inform your doctor and follow the advice accordingly.

Store the tablets and capsules at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep away from children.
